Atif Abdul Majeed, MBA ’10 and Fulbright Scholar from Pakistan, recently attended a conference in Washington, DC with 160 Fulbright scholars from 85 countries. Students were divided into 8 teams, which were each assigned an issue of global concern and asked to propose solutions. Atif’s group worked on economic development. Atif reported to Professor Ravichandran that his Lally training was put to good use.
“My group included people from 20 different countries; 5 of them were MBA students at different universities, 2 of them were Harvard students in Public policy," said Atif. "My solution was given the highest praise and eventually I was nominated by the whole group to present the solution before the whole audience. The basic ideas which I used to weave the solution were all derived from [Lally MBA Course] ‘Networks, Innovation and Value Creation.’”
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, The Fulbright Program is the largest U.S. exchange program for students and professionals for international graduate study and research. It is one of the most prestigious awards programs worldwide-- more Fulbright alumni have won Nobel Prizes than those of any other academic program. About 1800 foreign students receive Fulbright grants annually to study in the U.S.
The Lally School is proud to host Atif and two fellow Fulbright recipients in this year’s MBA ’10 class: Madgledis Almanza and Rolando Binns, both from Panama.
