The New York Times reports that a survey by PayScale shows that Rensselaer is highly competitive with elite U.S. universities when comparing graduates’ salaries throughout their careers. PayScale, a website that collects data on salaries in different professions, says the purpose of releasing the data is to show which colleges are the ‘best investment.’
PayScale’s rankings compare median starting and mid-career salaries for bachelor’s graduates from various universities. The survey offers some surprising findings and was summarized by The New York Times in “Do Elite Colleges Produce the Best-Paid Graduates?” (Answer: not necessarily). Rensselaer ranks 13th in the survey, ahead of CalTech (14th), Carnegie Mellon (17th), Berkeley (18th) and Georgetown (19th).
