INSIDE: Richard Pollack, POLLACK Architecture, and a leader within San Francisco's interior design community and past president of International Interior Design Association, will address trends in green interiors and the current investment climate in green building innovation.
OUTSIDE: Professor Anna Dyson, Director of CASE, and a 2009 recipient of Architecture Magazine's Research and Design Awards for the revolutionary “Active Phytoremediation Wall System,” will highlight recent advancements in clean energy and environmental systems for buildings. Under Dyson’s guidance, CASE is pushing the boundaries of environmental performance in urban building systems through actual projects as research test beds.
Dr. Anna Dyson
Director, CASE and Associate Professor of Architecture, Rensselaer
Anna Dyson is the director of The Center for Architecture, Science and Ecology (CASE), which hosts the Graduate Program in Architectural Sciences, concentrating in Built Ecologies, at Rensselaer. She also teaches design, technology, and theory at Rensselaer's School of Architecture.
A design architect and product designer in Canada, Europe, and the United States, she has exhibited her work in the MoMA Young Architects Series, and was a finalist in the international Next Generation Design Competition. In 2009, Dyson received Architecture Magazine's 2009 Research & Design Award for the revolutionary “Active Phytoremediation Wall System: Biomechanical Hybrid,” and the U.S. Green Building Council’s Excellence in Green Building Education Award.
She holds multiple international patents for building systems inventions, and is currently directing interdisciplinary research to develop new systems for on-site energy generation in urban buildings. Dyson received a baccalaureate général from Université Laval and a master of architecture from Yale University.
